Original Email:CPC Board Members,Our Alberta Parks board representative, Scott Jones, has requested CPC members to forward (if available) procedures, directives or policy documents outlining the process for when staff encounter a serious incident or fatality. Alberta Parks is looking to build a procedure that outlines the steps staff would take in the case of a serious incident involving staff, volunteers and the public. Please send any relevant information to Andrea Debolt <andrea.debolt@gov.ab.ca> along with contact information to support a potential follow upconversation.A summary of findings will be made available to all once complete.

COMMENTS: Please find attached the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport’s (Sask Parks’) Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) safety policies. I’ve also attached the Gov’t of Sask critical incident guidelines that we follow in conjunction with our own policies – this document is also available here and is a component of our Employee and Family Assistance Program. Sask Parks’ utilizes a hybrid model where we do have a small CISM team of peer supporters that can respond to a critical incident, respond jointly with our EFAP provider or just the EFAP provider responds.
